Sarika Modi, M.D.

 
 

Dr. Modi is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center where she works as an academic hospitalist. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia (B.S., B.A.) and the University of Alabama School of Medicine (M.D.). She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at VCU and is board certified in Internal Medicine.


During her undergraduate time, Dr. Modi traveled to Tanzania and worked with local doctors in underserved villages. During her medical school training she developed a deep interest in health disparities and global health. Through funding from the Medical School Enrichment Program she volunteered with the Himalayan Health Exchange to provide medical care in remote villages in the state of Himachal Pradesh in India. Also during her time in medical school, Dr. Modi helped run a student-run free clinic in Birmingham, Alabama, and served as Vice President of Records with Equal Access Birmingham, a student organization committed to improving access to healthcare and health education.


As a resident, Dr. Modi participated in an outreach trip to Yoro, Honduras, with GH2DP. She is interested in providing care to underserved communities and in medical education in global health.
