Jason Cook, M.D.

 
 

Jason Cook completed his undergraduate education at Vanderbilt University where he studied Human and Organizational Development at Peabody College. His interest in medicine was solidified by shadowing physicians at Santa Casa Hospital, the largest public hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He completed medical school at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and is currently an Internal Medicine resident at Virginia Commonwealth University. Jason is interested in global health, health disparities and cardiovascular disease. A 2016 graduate of the Global Health and Health Disparities Program’s Residency Pathway, Jason is studied the microbiologic and clinical effectiveness of a water chlorination system in rural Honduras. Jason also was a co-investigator on a research project looking at knowledge, attitudes and risk for dengue and chikungunya disease in the same region. Jason worked alongside other residents and faculty on a health outreach trip to rural Honduras in June of 2015 and again in June 2016. Jason also spends time providing clinical services at a large free clinic in Richmond, Virginia, and is a chief resident in Internal Medicine.
